The exciting extra-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a combined 51M spectators in the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. MLB reported this marks the most-watched Fall Classic finale since the 1991 contest between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game drew 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the last Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game averaged 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The full seven-match series drew 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American average was 16.1M. The total World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M viewers, an eight percent rise over last year and the network’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the World Series was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen different tongues.
